How does our scoring system work?

Our market scoring system evaluates handmade/craft markets based on five key metrics: Communication, Social Media Presence/Advertising, Vendor and Product Diversity, Affordability, and Customer Turnout/Sales Potential. Each metric is scored on a scale of 1 to 5, reflecting the market’s performance in that area.

1. Communication
  • What to assess: Promptness, clarity, and helpfulness in addressing vendor questions or concerns before, during, and after the event.

  • Scoring:

    • 5 = Prompt, clear, proactive communication with helpful updates.

    • 3 = Communication was acceptable but lacked consistency or responsiveness.

    • 1 = Poor communication, with delays or unresponsiveness.

2. Social Media Presence and Advertising
  • What to assess: How effectively the market promotes itself to attract customers, including online visibility and engagement on platforms like Instagram or Facebook.

  • Scoring:

    • 5 = Well-advertised with visible posts, strong engagement, and clear branding.

    • 3 = Moderate advertising effort with some visibility but low engagement.

    • 1 = Minimal to no advertising presence.

3. Vendor and Product Diversity
  • What to assess: The variety of vendors and products available, ensuring a mix of handmade crafts, food, art, etc., without oversaturating the same types of products.

  • Scoring:

    • 5 = Wide range of diverse and unique vendors with balanced representation.

    • 3 = Moderate diversity, with noticeable repetition of product categories.

    • 1 = Poor diversity, heavily skewed toward one or two product types.

4. Affordability
  • What to assess: The cost of vendor fees compared to the expected turnout, market prestige, and provided amenities (e.g., tables, power outlets).

  • Scoring:

    • 5 = Vendor fees are reasonable with good value for benefits and turnout.

    • 3 = Costs are fair but could be improved for the value offered.

    • 1 = Overpriced with limited justification.

5. Customer Turnout and Sales Potential
  • What to assess: The volume of foot traffic and the likelihood of making sales, based on the event’s time, location, and promotional efforts.

  • Scoring:

    • 5 = High turnout with consistent customer engagement.

    • 3 = Moderate turnout with sporadic engagement.

    • 1 = Low turnout with minimal engagement.
